Associate Director of Admissions and Director of Scholarship Recruitment - Centre College

Centre seeks a talented, energetic, motivated leader to fill the role of Associate Director of Admission and Director of Scholarship Recruitment. This position will serve a recruitment region as the territory manager, counseling and assisting prospective students and their families in the admission process. 

The Director of Scholarship Recruitment, this position is responsible for strategically managing all aspects of Centre’s merit-scholarship programs, including recruitment, promotion, and selection. The Director will manage the portfolio including Lincoln and Grissom premier scholarships that include full comprehensive cost awards, leadership and service scholarships including Bonner and New Horizons, talent scholarships including those for Music, Theatre, and Visual Arts, and interest programs that include Global Language scholarships. This position includes extensive travel, serving as a speaker, presenter, panelist, and content expert on the topics of admission, scholarships, and financial aid. Additionally, this position will collaborate with the Financial Aid Office in the review of scholarship balances, financial aid application materials, conducting need analysis and counseling prospective and current students and their families concerning the financial aid process and eligibility for scholarships and financial aid resources. The Associate Director of Admission and Director of Scholarship Recruitment reports to the Vice President for Enrollment Management. 

 Essential Job Functions:

  • Plan and execute publicity and promotion of scholarship programs to raise Centre’s profile and attract highly qualified applicants to the College.

  • Strategically monitor the national higher education landscape and provide strategic direction for scholarship programs, develop action plans, and advance the enrollment goals of Centre College.

  • Work with admission staff, scholarship program directors, faculty, and other campus partners to identify and recruit qualified scholarship candidates.

  • Coordinate finalist interview weekend for Grissom Scholarship candidates. Manage the scholarship team in planning marketing and communication, travel arrangements and reimbursements, overnight hosting, personalized agendas, and group events for finalists. Coordinate faculty, staff, and student volunteers. Oversee event budget.

  • Supervise two to three admission staff and provide daily supervision, professional development opportunities, approval of PTO requests, approval of purchasing card transactions, regular check-ins, and annual performance evaluations.

  • Manage student recruitment in assigned territory. Conduct market research, cultivate and maintain school and community-based organization relationships, and correspond with students and families, counselors and alumni as required.

  • Conduct six to eight weeks of recruitment travel in the fall and two to three weeks in the spring.

  • Conduct financial aid application review and need analysis.

  • Read and evaluate applications for admission and scholarships.

  • Demonstrate an appreciation for and sensitivity to an inclusive academic community, fostering a welcoming environment for students, faculty, and staff from all social, economic, cultural, ideological, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree and five or more years relevant experience preferred.

  • Experience working with scholarships and financial aid preferred.

  • Strong knowledge of current college enrollment landscape for admission and financial aid.

  • Articulate the mission and value of the college and scholarship programs.

  • Evidence of team building experiences that generated desired outcomes.

  • Evidence of strategic planning.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, and organizational skills are required.

  • Basic computer skills needed to utilize admission specific software, spreadsheets, and calendars.

  • The ability to work independently and as a member of a team is important.

  • Empathy and humor are crucial.

  • A valid driver’s license is required.
