Integrating a high school financial aid curriculum for students and parents

Pre-conference Session 3/29/2025, 1 - 4 pm

Speakers
  • Paul Martin - College Money Method
Summary
Affordability is at the center of students' college searches. The increasing complexity of the financial aid process requires earlier guidance for students and families on paths to financial aid and affordability before senior year. This pre-conference workshop provides steps on how to create and integrate a measured, continual and grade-appropriate education series on financial aid starting in 9th grade through senior spring, with topics and resources to support counselors to implement guided financial aid planning. *Map out topics on financial aid and affordability for each grade level, connecting key subjects to build on one another toward success for senior year financial aid applications and college choice. *Detail financial aid topics as they relate to other grade-level activities students are engaged with for college planning and application. *Deep dive into content and resources counselors can use for each grade, with learning objectives and actions appropriate for each year. *Engage in case studies on students with varying need eligibility, exploring students on the spectrum of full need-eligible to those who are not need-eligible.
